Turf, Giving back to the Community!

Brief: Working as a group, identify and thoroughly research social, commercial or environmental data you feel passionate about. Collect, analyse and aim to understand the value of this information. The information can be of individual, local, national or international importance. This data set will become the starting point of your project. Through the understanding of the information, a specific design problem, a target audience as well as technological and context opportunities will emerge. You will then develop a creative concept and pitch a “product”, through a series of digital and physical mockups as well as prototypes. As a group you must demonstrate rigorous ideation, experimentation, testing and prototyping and provide evidence of the product’s social or commercial value. Your whole process should be well documented in your individual “process books”, and may include video documentation, and interactive digital prototypes and experiments.
I created a short promotional video for the app, to give the user a better understanding of how Turf works. The story starts with Jess who is looking to buy a gift for a friend. She uses the search engine featured on the app, and is presented with a choice of two shops that are within walking distance. By using the map feature, she arrives in no time at all. While she's there, Turf sends her a notification to encourage her to check-in online. After checking in, the screen changes to her individual barcode page so she can collect points if she spends in store. The cashier easily scans the barcode during the transaction, and as Jess leaves she has another notification to update her on her point balance.
